The proper choice of a vacuum pump fluid is critical in maximizing pump performance. Oil is inexpensive when compared to the high cost of repairing or, worse yet, replacing your vacuum pump.
Fluids designed for uses other than vacuum applications, contain additives which are designed to enhance certain functions. If improperly used in a vacuum pump, these additives can hinder pump performance by absorbing moisture, raising vapor pressure and reacting with process gases to form sludge. The use of a properly designed vacuum pump fluid along with regularly scheduled oil changes, will provide the customer with the lowest obtainable pressure with a minimal amount of repair.
